Ingredients

Marinade
- 4 Garlic cloves, grated
- 4 Chicken thighs, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 0.25 c Soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Chinese black vinegar
- 3 tbsp ginger
- 2 tbsp Chinese five spice
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 2 tbsp MSG
Other Ingredients
- 1 c Cornstarch
- 0.5 Red onion, large dice
- 2 Serrano peppers, thinly sliced
- 2 c Rice
- 6 Fresh basil

Directions

1. Combine chicken and marinade ingredients and mix together thoroughly. Let marinade at least 30 minutes up to overnight
2. Cook rice per package instructions or in a rice cooker. Season however you like
3. On a plate or in a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cornstarch, 1 tbsp Chinese five spice, 1 tbsp salt, and optionally 1 tbsp MSG.
4. Add the chicken to the starch mixture and coat thoroughly
5. Fry at 350F for 5-7 minutes
6. Optionally fry some basil leaves from room temp. Bring the heat up and once it starts to fry watch carefully. Remove from oil after about 30 seconds while they still have their green color. Season with a little salt
7. Sautee the serranos and onion on high heat for 2 minutes. The onions should brown a little but maintain their texture.
8. Mix the chicken, onions, and peppers and dust with a little more 5 spice
9. Serve over rice and top with your fried basil and ENJOY!
