Ingredients

Caramel
- 0.25 c Sugar
- 2.5 tbsp Heavy cream
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 0.25 tsp Salt
Main Ingredients
- 2 oz Dark chocolate, 60-70% cocoa
- 5 tbsp Unsalted butter
- 0.333 c Sugar
- 1 Egg, room temperature
- 0.5 tsp instant coffee
- 0.25 c All purpose flour
- 3 tbsp Cocoa powder, dutch processed
- 0.25 tsp Salt
- 30 g Chocolate, chopped
- 0.333 c Walnuts, chopped

Directions

Method for caramel preparation
1. To prepare the caramel, place the sugar in a nonstick pan and place over medium-low flame.
2. Heat until the sugar starts to melt, gently stir until it reaches a golden, caramel-like color (don’t let it get too dark).
3. Then, add the cream. The caramel will bubble but keep stirring.
4. Then add butter and salt and stir until you get a deep gold color.
5. Take off the flame and let it cool.
Preparation before baking
1. Preheat your oven to 335F and line a loaf pan (9x4).
2. Place the butter and chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 15-second increments until melted. Mix and set aside.
3. Whisk the egg and sugar in a bowl at high speed until very light in color, thick and frothy.
4. Add the chocolate and butter and whisk until combined.
5. Then add water mixed with coffee and whisk again.
Sifting and folding dry ingredients
1. Sift in all dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, salt) and gently fold until combined.
2. Fold in walnuts and chocolate.
Layering and baking
1. Place half the brownie batter into the pan and spread it with a spatula.
2. Spoon in the caramel and spread (I used all of it but you can use less based on your preference).
3. Spread over the other half of the brownie batter and top with extra chocolate (optional).
4. Bake for about 23-25 min.
5. Enjoy!!!
