1. Melt butter in a heavy Dutch oven over medium heat.
2. Add onions. Stir and add seasonings.
3. Turn the heat to medium low and cover for about 35 minutes or until the onions have softened.
4. Remove lid and let onions caramelize until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
5. Add better than bouillon, beef stock, and cognac.
6. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
7. Add flour and stir, removing from the heat.
For the wings
1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
2. Season your wings with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, and cornstarch.
3. Use a meat injector to add French Onion soup into the wings.
4. If you don’t have a meat injector, add a slit to the side of each wing, carefully scooping soup into the slit.
5. Coat the wings with avocado oil.
6. Bake on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
7. Flip the wings to cook on the other side and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165-170 degrees.
8. Set your oven to broil.
9. Add soup to a heat safe bowl or dish.
10. Top soup with slices of French bread.
11. Add wings to the top of the bread slides and top with Gruyere cheese.
12. Broil until the cheese melts and gets nice and brown.
13. Serve immediately!
